ABOUT MARIO CALLEGARO
Mario focuses on Market Research and User eXperience Research having his core specialization in survey science with a passion of using technology to increase data quality. More recently Mario is investigating ways GenAI can assist the research processes consulting companies on this topic and teaching graduate students AI assisted research seminars.Before founding Callegaro Research, Mario was Senior Staff User Experience Researcher in Google Cloud UX, London. He was one of the lead researchers for the product Gemini Cloud Assist, an AI assisted tool available in the Cloud console, fully launched in April 2025.Mario was recruited by Google to join their Quantitative Marketing team in Q4 2009 as survey research scientist. He started working at Google’s headquarter in Mountain View, CA, managing large scale research projects like Wave, a tracking study of Adwords customers. In Q4 2011 Mario relocated to London, United Kingdom. He conducted numerous large scale projects until he joined the team BrandStudio in 2016 where he conducted international studies to measure Google’s brand and reputation. In Q4 2018 Mario was able to successfully apply for a role profile change and became a senior user experience researcher (UXR) in the Advertising team first, and later in Google Cloud. As a UXR Mario worked on numerous B2B projects such as a five year competitive tracker of Cloud providers. Prior to joining Google, Mario was working as survey research scientist for Knowledge Networks a company who built Knowledge Panel, a probability based panel of the U.S. population.(now Ipsos Knowledge Panel).Mario holds a M.S. and a Ph.D. in Survey Research and Methodology from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Current research areas: Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models for research methods, user experience research methods, web survey design, online panels, and questionnaire design in which he has published numerous papers, book chapters and conference presentations. Mario published an edited book (May 2014): Online Panel Research: A Data Quality Perspective (Wiley publisher) and his monograph titled:\"Web Survey Methodology\" is available from Sage as of June 2015 (from 2021 as open access).
