ABOUT L. BUREAU

Leadership Educator | Transformative Accompaniment Practitioner | Community Development Leader Marquis Bureau is a professor, researcher, and practitioner whose work bridges leadership education, emotional and spiritual intelligence, and ecosystemic integrative accompaniment. With extensive experience in higher education, community development, and organizational transformation, he empowers individuals and groups to cultivate presence, empathy, and resilience in times of change. At Saint Paul University in Ottawa, Marquis teaches in the School of Leadership, Ecology and Equity and the School of Counselling, Psychotherapy and Spirituality. His courses explore listening, group accompaniment, emotional intelligence, and the spiritual dimensions of leadership, blending rigorous scholarship with transformative practices that foster authentic human connection. As part of his doctoral research, Marquis is developing an ecosystemic integrative accompaniment model — an approach that emphasizes receptivity, responsiveness, and interconnectedness in both leadership and community contexts. Rooted in interdisciplinary perspectives, this model seeks to strengthen the role of communities in supporting caregivers of seniors and to reimagine accompaniment as a practice of dignity, resonance, and shared flourishing. Core Values and Focus Areas: • Human Connection: Creating genuine relationships grounded in empathy and mutual respect. • Transformation: Guiding individuals and organizations through meaningful and purposeful change. • Community Engagement: Building resilient, inclusive communities that honor diversity and interdependence. Marquis’s vocation is to inspire meaningful change, whether by accompanying caregivers, mentoring students, or facilitating community dialogues. He invites collaboration with those who share a commitment to transformative leadership, integrative accompaniment, and the flourishing of human communities.
