ABOUT MICHAEL BURDEOS

My Core Beliefs:• Technology companies need three things to succeed: excellent talent, excellent technology and vision.• All employees desire to do a good job. A manager\'s job is to put employees in a position where they can thrive.• I prefer to work for companies where the technology is the main product. It is important to me that the work I contribute is to the life-blood of the company.I’ve been with On Center Software/ConstructConnect since 2015. When I started, we were a 100-person company creating Construction Takeoff (for Pre-Bid) applications leveraging Cloud technology. I operated as a Software Architect and helped transition our backend technology to leverage a microservice architecture using Docker/Kubernetes. I helped manage our relationship with Google as our services are hosted in GCP. When On Center Software merged with ConstructConnect in 2018 I supported efforts to merge our company’s talent and technology, and collaborated in building a common application platform.Integrating 8 small companies with legacy systems into a single 700+ person company with a single vision leveraging a single platform has been a challenging experience with lessons I’ll keep with me for the rest of my career. My career has spanned 3 decades. I started my first 8 years at NASA as a developer supporting Space Shuttle and Space Station missions. After spending a year in the Oil and Gas industry the remainder of my career has been in the Software industry. I’ve been in 6-man start-up companies, and very large public companies. I thrive in both environments.I evangelize AI/ML technology within the company. I’ve started initiatives using Object Detection, Image Classification, and collaborated on a Recommendation Engine. We leveraged Google’s BigQuery, AutoML, and ML Engine. Supporting a company’s first foray into AI/ML can be difficult. Guiding management expectations, developing an experimental approach to development, and setting up a pipeline/infrastructure for delivering ML model updates. Recent improvements the technology and frameworks like Tensorflow makes AI more approachable with standard development teams.
