About Michael Key
Transforming academic wellbeing into proactive, student-centered engagement.I am an educational leader and systems innovator who designs and scales programs that close equity gaps, improve student outcomes, and integrate technology into every layer of academic support. At Clark State College, I direct the Academic Engagement Program, leveraging Blackboard LMS, Slate CRM, and Colleague ERP to coordinate a distributed case management team serving high-need populations. My approach blends data-driven decision-making with trauma-informed, equity-centered practices to ensure that interventions are timely, personalized, and measurable.I design and optimize Progress Survey systems that allow faculty to flag concerns or celebrate successes, triggering automated referrals and follow-up actions. I build multi-platform communication workflows using dynamic content, Liquid markup, and real-time data integrations to deliver outreach at scale without losing the human connection.By creating integrated dashboards and analytics tools, I provide leadership with the insights needed to monitor KPIs, track student engagement across thousands of course completions, and allocate resources strategically. My work has contributed to increasing probationary student GPA gains from +0.70 to +1.36, raising retention from 48% to 74%, and maintaining a 56% engagement rate among students not in Good Academic Standing.I am now preparing for the next stage of my career — applying my expertise in educational leadership, technology integration, and process innovation to a role that advances student success at scale, whether through mission-driven institutions, forward-thinking EdTech companies, or cross-sector partnerships.
