ABOUT MIKE HARRIS
Currently working as Software Engineering Lead for Elsevier working in the Submission Systems part of Research Technology, where we help our authors achieve greater success in the publishing of cutting edge academic articles across our more than 2,500 journals across all disciplines of science. Since graduating with a degree in Computing for Real Time Systems from the University of the West of England in 1993, I\'ve worked principally as a software engineer but also have much experience of general IT management, networking and support. I\'ve been an avid fan of using Agile, XP and Lean methodologies for software engineering since about 2012 and work for its implementation and optimal use on a daily basis. My programming experience is with a multitude of languages; too many to list here!(And also because no I\'m not looking for a PHP programming role guys!) In addition to software development, I\'ve also done event production, and have helped plan, produce and provide technical facilities for numerous live events, including HacktionLab, BarnCamp, Lost Vagueness at Glastonbury Festival, and Ox:Agile Conference. Finally I am a director XtreamLab, a small independent Internet Services Provider and web agency supporting primarily Bristol based organisations with my colleague Marcus Valentine.
