About Beena Emerson

I have been working on PostgreSQL internals since 2012, starting my career at NTT before moving to EDB in 2015. Over the years, I’ve contributed to several core PostgreSQL features, including multiple synchronous standbys, default partition support, configurable wal_segment_size at initdb, faster partition pruning, and runtime partition pruning. At NTT, I also maintained extensions like pg_bigm and played a key role in an Oracle-to-Postgres migration project, along with numerous large-scale fixes and R&D efforts. At EDB, my focus has been on features and bug fixes in EnterpriseDB Advanced Server, particularly around Oracle compatibility and partitioning, as well as contributions to extensions such as pg_catcheck, pg_prewarm, edb_pg_tuner, and edb_stat_monitor. I am currently a committer for edb_stat_monitor and edb_pg_tuner, and I have also presented at pgConf India.I have also stepped into the role of Engineering Manager, leading a talented team of two engineers. While I continue to stay hands-on with PostgreSQL, I now also enjoy the challenge of guiding and mentoring others, balancing technical depth with leadership.Beyond technology, I am deeply passionate about purpose-driven living and holistic wellbeing. I trained to become a Mindful Productivity and Manifestation Coach and I host webinars and discussions whenever possible to help others align their work, health, and life goals.PostgreSQL, people, and purpose are at the center of my journey and I’m always open to conversations around open source contributions, database innovation, engineering leadership, or purposeful living.
