ABOUT MICAELA MIA CATE
I am a first-year law student at the University of Tennessee Winston College of Law with interests in regulatory practice, criminal defense, and public-facing advocacy. I earned my B.S. in Sociology from Kennesaw State University, where my capstone research examined women\'s involvement in drug trafficking. Before law school, I worked as a Victim Advocate at a District Attorney’s Office, supporting survivors as they navigated the criminal justice system and developing a deep appreciation for how legal and regulatory frameworks affect people in real and lasting ways. I lived in Peru for the first 22 years of my life and completed my first three years of undergraduate study at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. There, I served as Student Body President, advocated for students’ rights before the Peruvian Congress and in national media, and contributed to legislative discussions related to higher education. My experiences across legal systems and institutions have shaped my commitment to principled leadership and clear, ethical, and people-centered advocacy.
