About Mayumi Nakamura Birt

Born in Japan, Mayumi moved to the United States in 1987 and earned her MBA from Portland State University, launching a 30+ year career in software and technology. As CEO and President of PSP, Inc. in Bellevue, Washington, she negotiated over 100 international licensing deals, oversaw large-scale data centers, and led global software design teams before founding Ascent Partners.At Ascent Partners, Mayumi leads high-impact transformation projects guided by her principle: “(re)imagine + act = transformation.” By blending cultural insight with innovative technology, she helps organizations re-shape how they operate and grow. A notable example was the destination management initiatives for the State of Hawaii, where her team helped navigate the complexities of digital transformation and destination management—one of many successful transformations Ascent Partners has delivered.Mayumi also serves as Vice Chair of the Tourism and Hospitality Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ), where she contributes to advancing cross-border collaboration and industry innovation.
