ABOUT MAYRON FARIA DE OLIVEIRA
I’m a PhD in Exercise Physiology and Applied Physiology, currently serving as Assistant Professor at Lyon College (Arkansas, USA). My academic journey bridges human performance, integrative physiology, and cardiovascular and neurovascular health. My core research focuses on how exercise, fatigue, and autonomic regulation affect cerebral and peripheral oxygenation, particularly in clinical and athletic populations, such as individuals with migraine and sport-related concussion. I employ tools and methods like- Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS)- Heart Rate Variability (HRV)- Non-invasive cardiovascular monitoring - Isokinetic dynamometry - Cardiopulmonary exercise testing - CPET - Cognitive performance testing My projects explore- Neurovascular and neuromuscular responses to physical exertion - Neurovascular coupling and oxygen transport dynamics - Exercise-induced fatigue and brain-muscle integration - Clinical physiology and autonomic dysfunction I’ve authored over 30 scientific papers (11 as first author), with publications indexed in PubMed, and contributed to 4 book chapters. I’m passionate about translating physiology into real-world applications for health, performance, and rehabilitation. I also serve as Research and Academic Lead at VO2 Care (Brazil), where I coordinate the development of clinical research protocols and educational initiatives focused on cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, exercise testing, and integrative physiology.
