ABOUT MAYRA VALLE

Lead transformative discourse that honors people and maximizes potential. As a proud daughter of immigrant parents, I am a Mexican-American, Chicana, and Latina that understands the complexity living within hyphenated identities. Communities of color are not homogenous, and I work to explore that complexity though dialogue, artistry, and access to education. Every part of the work I do supports the advancement and honoring of those identities. Within education, I support talented young people in the selective college admission process and facilitate professional development trainings for educators at 5 major Houston school districts. From developing curriculum to facilitating workshops on identity to connecting with the community, I continue to contribute to first-generation student spaces.Diversity. Equity. Inclusion. Access. Students should have the opportunity to thrive in all areas of their lives. From the classroom to the college process to their communities, I help develop infrastructure to ensure students feel seen and their educators feel equipped to lead them.
