I am a numbers storyteller. As an accountant, and now data scientist, I like to understand the meaning behind the numbers. In that manner I can provide insight into the past, present, and future. I feel that my accounting and internal audit background have equipped me with the tools and domain knowledge needed to be the best data scientist I can be. Before implementing machine or deep learning models, a data scientist must understand the problem, the data and the processes surrounding it. All of which, I\'ve learned how to identify in my previous roles. As an accountant, I understand the pain points that surround data. As an internal auditor, I understand how to leverage the knowledge and feedback from subject matter experts or stakeholders to better understand the problem and processes.
