About May Q. Liu

I\'m inspired by the discovery that results from thoughtful inquiry. The scientist in me is constantly making hypotheses and seeking data. The engineer in me focuses on practical and impactful solutions. The human in me notices that opportunities abound to help other people, our society, and our world. It feels vital that my work contributes to all of these aspects.I thrive in gray areas. These gray areas may be where disciplines overlap - technology and medicine, objective metrics and subjective human experience, virtual experiences and real-world experiences. Sometimes challenges seem gray because no one has yet asked the hard questions, so I ask the hard questions and find ways to dissect them. Sometimes solution spaces seem gray because a team feels bound by ways of thinking that limit creativity, so I create a safe space in which teams can freely explore their own questions and ideas. I\'m not afraid of diving into difficult gray problems because, honestly, those are often the most interesting and impactful. Collaborations with bright people to dig deeper into these challenges fuel the inspiration we need to explore creative solutions with new clarity. My strongest skills are creating cross-org collaborations, problem definition, analytical thinking, research design, solution exploration, outcomes measurement, data interpretation, meeting facilitation, and presenting findings to different audiences.
