About Maya Essimel
I’m a first-generation graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (P.P.E.) and a minor in Legal Studies and History. Over the course of my undergraduate tenure, I dutifully served as a Research Assistant in a number officially projects spanning Penn’s Latin American & Latinx Studies Department under Dr. Tulia Falleti, Penn’s School of Social Policy and Practice under Dr. Chao Guo, the Wharton School under Dr. Amy Sepinwall, and the Penn Carey Law School under Dr. Beth Simmons. I was an undergraduate fellow with the Andrea Mitchell Center for Democracy, where I pursued an independent research project investigating the impact of social media phenomenon (e.g, echo chambers and filter bubbles) on American judges as well as examining how judicial ethical guidelines fail to consider modern developments in technology. Following graduation, I am excited to be joining Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP as a Private Funds Paralegal where I will deepen my interest in international law and private equity.
