About Maya de Ganyar
I’m a senior at UC Berkeley, double-majoring in Political Science and Data Science, with a focus on AI governance, national security, and innovation.I am a Research Assistant at the Berkeley Risk and Security Lab, where I research AI governance frameworks, including those related to lethal autonomous weapons and national security risk. I am also a Political Science Honors student researching how data protection and privacy laws shape AI innovation.I currently serve as a mentee in a social science research program studying revolutions and gender through a data-driven lens, strengthening my quantitative research skills in policy analysis. As a Travers Fellow at the Commonwealth Club and a former intern in the U.S. House of Representatives, I’ve gained firsthand experience in how technology and policy intersect. I’m passionate about leveraging data and policy to address emerging challenges in AI, cybersecurity, and governance.
