ABOUT MAX STARR

Spacecraft, Formula 1, large Ships, little boats, bicycles, batteries. And fast sailing yachts!Since my undergraduate studies I have been fortunate to have been exposed to a range of different uses of engineering. Most recently I have worked on racing sailing yachts for the British contender for the America\'s Cup, but prior to that worked for a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software vendor supporting a wide range of clients. I have specialised in CFD as my area of expertise (underpinned by my PhD) but have gained a range of aerodynamic and hydrodynamic experience through analysis of simulations.CFD has seen me using a range of commercial and open source packages; predominantly I have used STAR-CCM+(and STAR-CD), but have also used Tecplot and Gridgen alongside OpenFOAM and an in-house code for my PhD. Working with CFD has also led to experience of working with different CAD packages (e.g. NX and Rhino), with a range of programming languages (such as Fortran, Java, Python, C and Matlab), operating systems (various flavours of Linux, Windows and Mac OS), and clusters (in particular SGE and building an AWS based HPC using Lustre).
