About Maxwell Gifford
I\'m a sports broadcaster with extensive experience as a play-by-play commentator, studio anchor, and multimedia journalist. I graduate from Syracuse\'s Newhouse School in December 2025.On campus, I cover sports for the ACC Network, WJPZ (89.1 FM), WAER (88.3 FM), CitrusTV, and ESPN Radio Syracuse (97.7). I\'ve called Syracuse sporting events on ACC Network for the last two years. In January 2024, I was named Sports Director at WJPZ. I\'ve worked on the Sports Staff & Sports Talk Staff at WAER since my sophomore year. At Citrus, I host three shows and anchor sports weekly for the station\'s nightly news broadcasts. You can also find me live on \"Newhouse After Noon\" as a sports talk host on ESPN Radio Syracuse and Cuse Sports Talk.Off campus, I intern with the Syracuse Crunch— the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning—where for two seasons I have done play-by-play, hosted intermissions, conducted player/coach interviews, and written game notes. I\'ve also done play-by-play commentary with the Utica Jr. Comets’ NCDC & Premier level teams in the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL).The past two summers, I’ve worked for the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League, where I did play-by-play on radio and television for the team.Throughout college, I’ve also served for the St. Louis Cardinals as a Broadcast Intern and TV/Radio Booth Junior Assistant.
