As the technical lead for a team delivering high-value work to millions of learners, I work alongside design, product and delivery leads to gather requirements from stakeholders, evaluate their impact and the business needs and prioritise their delivery.I lead the work to coordinate our technical approach and set our engineers up for success with clear requirements. Along with all engineers on the team, I also review code going into production.As part of the technical leadership group at FutureLearn, I ensure our team understands and contributes to our wider tech strategy.A few highlights from our work- Delivering the core integration with our third-party marketing automation tool. I saw the project from beginning to end: vendor selection process, defining the integration implementation and ensuring the rollout was seamless and delivered on schedule. The integration now sends millions of GDPR compliant messages each week. We maintain and support the integration, handling the wonderful quirks of third-party API’s and ensuring other teams are able to leverage the value of the integration- Increasing the global impact of FutureLearn by enabling purchases in new currencies- Introducing new data capture mechanisms to discover more about our learners without having a negative impact on their learning outcomes or our financial metrics- Enabling personalisation of growth & marketing messages with a new user events system, including a new message authoring system allowing CRM & Marketing teams to personalise messages without the need for engineering or product work or support.
