As the Conservation Program Director at HECHO, I lead impactful advocacy campaigns to protect public lands and waters, with a focus on empowering Hispanic communities to play a central role in conservation efforts. My work is dedicated to advancing federal public land policies while ensuring that the perspectives and cultural values of Hispanic leaders are integrated into the national conservation dialogue.In this role, I’m responsible for developing and executing place-based conservation campaigns in HECHO’s priority states, aligning these efforts with national policy goals. I work closely with HECHO’s Hispanic Conservation Leadership Council (HCLC) to engage and mobilize a network of Hispanic leaders who are passionate about protecting our natural resources. By collaborating with local communities, state and federal decision-makers, and conservation partners, I help ensure that the voices of underrepresented groups are heard and respected in the policy-making process.A significant part of my role involves cultivating partnerships with key stakeholders, managing coalitions, and supporting communications strategies to promote HECHO’s mission. I also play a role in developing fundraising strategies to support our conservation initiatives, ensuring that we have the resources needed to advance our work.My goal is to not only protect our public lands and waters but to also highlight the deep cultural connections many Hispanic communities have to these landscapes. Through this work, I strive to foster stewardship, elevate the contributions of Hispanic leaders, and build a more inclusive and representative conservation movement.I am proud to lead HECHO’s efforts to protect the natural spaces that hold both ecological and cultural significance. Together, we are working to ensure that future generations can continue to enjoy and benefit from our public lands and waters.
