About Maximilian Mazur
From a young age, I was inspired to go into business through my grandfather, the person I look up to the most. He started his own companies, with one of his most notable being a Polish Yogurt company. I was always intrigued with how he started these ventures and how they operated. Because of this, I wanted to start my businesses from lemonade stands to reselling legos on eBay, to eventually creating a longer-term business by selling limited edition sneakers and clothing. I always knew that I wanted to pursue business, which made me want to attend Indiana University for business. I currently put a lot of effort into using the resources around me so that I can make the most of the opportunities. I want to be as involved as possible to gain the knowledge and experience that will allow me to prosper in the future. Most recently I did this by joining the Capital Markets & Banking Workshop. As a member of the Capital Markets Workshop, a few of my primary projects were to create models based on various companies. These models included a traditional operating model, discounted cash flows, leverage buyouts, comparable companies, and precedent transactions. Through our weekly class, we learned about how to value a company properly, how to utilize different tranches of debt, and how the equity market functions. The workshop also highlighted the importance of improving our teamwork and presentation skills with weekly group presentations. Before joining the workshop, I interned my freshman year summer at Elmdale Partners as a Financial Analyst. During this internship, I had the opportunity to work on multiple projects at once and manage many responsibilities. I also had the opportunity to learn about real estate valuation and market expectations. Although this firm focused on real estate, I grew to appreciate the similarities between investment banking and real estate. I firmly believe that my understanding of real estate markets and valuations, as well as my understanding of investment banking through the Capital Markets workshop, makes me a strong candidate. Furthermore, my exposure to very different industries has led me to think creatively when put in difficult situations. For my future, I am interested in pursuing a career in the financial services industry. I want to be able to work with companies and learn more about them and the industry itself. I am excited to join a team that is constantly changing and adapting to new situations.
