As the Director of Data Science and Analytics at Pocket Gems, I lead the data science and strategic finance teams, both of whom provide analytical insights and solutions across the business, from marketing, to product, to finance. I have ten years of experience in the world of analytics and data science, the last six of which I\'ve been leading teams.As a manager, my style is centered around teaching, while doing everything I can to help my team grow in a collaborative and supportive atmosphere. In my experience, I\'ve found that thinking of myself this way (as coach first, and \"boss\" second) has been far more successful than the other way round.As a data scientist, my core competencies include lifetime value modeling, churn modeling, forecasting, segmentation, and, lastly — but certainly not leastly [sic] — data visualization.(More specifically, presenting technical/analytical data in such a way that a non-technical audience can fully grasp the message.) I\'m routinely collaborating across functions, and communicate fluently with both technical and non-technical audiences.Outside of work, I\'d consider myself an amateur linguist, and my goal is to be fluent in at least 5 languages one day.(I\'m about halfway there: French and English are my two native languages, I\'m fairly comfortable — though somewhat rusty, and not quite fluent — in Spanish, and I can carry on a _very_ basic conversation in Hindi-Urdu.)
