About Max Halik
As Senior Product Developer at National Grid, I expand our decarbonization work. I lead our efforts to deploy a million heat pumps across the state of Massachusetts, and shape our electrification strategy as a technical subject matter expert as well as an adept stakeholder manager. Effective change happens when we combine technical expertise with effective communication.I use my physics and energy engineering background alongside an established career as an analyst, consultant, and product developer to understand the energy transition\'s thorniest problems, develop solutions, and implement them. I\'ve benefited from broad exposure to the energy transition, through consulting work for various utilities and multinational energy companies, which has allowed me to develop an effective framework to assess the viability of the latest clean energy technologies (in the near-term, I\'m most excited about window-unit heat pumps, expansion of vehicle-to-grid, refrigerant management, and distributed energy resource marketplaces). On top of that, I\'ve had the opportunity to take the most promising concepts and make them real for customers and end-users. My group at National Grid is responsible for anticipating near and mid-term energy challenges and developing real-world programs and offerings to address those. I\'ve built programs to weatherize and electrify buildings across the state, now with budgets in the tens of millions of dollars. Effective story-telling is as important as technical experience. The right answer communicated poorly can be more of a problem than the wrong answer. I\'m always trying to improve my tools for communication – I\'ve proficient in Python and have built up familiarity with SQL to better understand and share the stories in the data. I\'m multilingual with Spanish, French and a handful of others.I\'m excited to lead efforts to tackle the great challenge of the clean energy transition, head-on.
