About Max Doty

My name is Max Doty. I graduated with a degree from Michigan State University studying Mechanical Engineering with a Concentration in Energy in Spring 2025. I currently hold a position as an Associate Engineer Tech Analyst for Consumers Energy’s Gas System and Operations Planning (GSOP) department.Prior to being in GSOP, I held a position as an assistant project manager in gas metering, regulation and controls (MR & C). Here I aided with the implementation of a remote control valve (RCV) on an odorizer site, gained insight into project wise, unifier and SAP along with coordinating with various groups across the company to ensure all MR & C projects were completed. Towards the end of my position, I aided with 7 retirement projects spanning from Bay City, MI to Grand Rapids, MI alongside some scopes of work for the 2026 work year.Prior to MR & C I was originally introduced to Consumers Energy in their Gas Standards Department (Saginaw/Jackson, Michigan). Here I learned the ins and outs of gas codes (PHMSA, AGA and MGSS) along with utilizing AI and the Consumers Gas Standards database to produce a comprehensive guide to everyday operations and procedures performed in the field by Consumers Energy employees, Secondary Contractors and Tertiary Contractors. Alongside this, I further developed my Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification via the means of visual management by compiling quartarly data from various utility groups from around the United States and producing 30+ comprehensive pivot charts pertaining to AGA members.I also held an internship with Citizens Energy Group in their Underground Engineering and Design department where I aided with combined sewage overflow, lead a cross sectional team to earn a yellow belt in lean and six sigma and aided in the DigIndy project. Outside of engineering, I also have previously held positions/volunteered as: a section leader for Michigan State University Men’s Basketball Team, the IZZONE, an Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) for Physics for Scientists and Engineers 2 at Michigan State and a mascot for the Los Angelas Dodgers High A Affiliate, the Great Lakes Loons. I also am proficient in Python 3.8, Fusion 360, Siemens NX, Altair Inspire, V.Python 3.2, GIS, Bluebeam, MATLAB, Unifier, SAP, ProjectWise, SAP, AVEVA PI DataLink, AVEVA PI Vision, AVEVA PI Database, AVEVA PI Asset Framework, have a MOS in Excel 2016 and am a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
