About Maurizio Sabini
Since Maurizio Sabini has focused his career on higher education, research and academic administration. He has published extensively, including on international magazines and journals (such as Casabella, Rassegna, Domus, THE PLAN, Area, AND, and The Journal of Architectural Education). In Fall 2015 he will start serving as Editor-In-Chief of the new on-line platform \"ThePlan Journal.\" Among his publications:\"The Kent State Forum on the City\" series (2008-12), the curated Italian translation (2010, 1985) of \"Learning From Las Vegas\" by Venturi, Scott Brown and Izenour (1972), and studies on Louis I. Kahn (1994, and \"Rassegna\" 21, 1985). Since March 2016, he serves as Editor-in-Chief of THE PLAN Journal addition to having lectured internationally, Sabini has participated in international conferences and symposia in various roles (main organizer, program chair/co-chair, presenter and invited speaker). His research has been focusing on architectural theory (\"the critical project”), and urbanism (\"infrastructure and the sustainable city\"). A registered architect in Italy since 1983, he has been also, since 2001, an International Associate member of the American Institute of Architects. He has practiced internationally in Europe and Africa on a variety of projects, from product design to urban planning. He received also several recognitions in international design competitions, such as the ones for the Venice Biennale (1985) and for the extension of the Prado Museum in Madrid (1995).Sabini has consulted for various international organizations, including UNDP. Currently, he is on the roster as a visiting team member for the NAAB (National Architectural Accrediting Board), the accreditation agency for US schools of architecture, and a research proposal reviewer for the ANVUR (national agency for the evaluation of the university system and scientific research) for the Ministry of Education University & Research of Italy.
