About Mauricio Hess-Flores
I\'m a Computer Vision Researcher and Data Scientist with 17 years of academic, industry, and government experience. I hold a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a strong background in computer vision techniques for dense and accurate structure-from-motion from aerial imagery, geospatial data processing, stereo processing for autonomous navigation, as well as reconstruction and ML-based object classification for Computed Tomography (CT). I\'m also a former lecturer and national laboratory employee, as well as an Senior Member.Please visit my research website (https://sites.google.com/view/mauriciohessflores) for information on my PhD and postdoctoral research and publications.Interests and experience: • Computer vision: 3D reconstruction including structure-from-motion (SfM) and SLAM, epipolar/multiview geometry, triangulation, photogrammetry, camera calibration, bundle adjustment, geolocation, stereo processing, mosaicing, tracking, moving object detection, shape-from-X, supervised learning (SVMs) • Image processing: image registration, video stabilization, segmentation, super-resolution, deblurring, denoising, optical flow, feature detection, descriptors, and matching • Scientific visualization: visualization of error and uncertainty in computer vision algorithms • Inverse problems: medical imaging (tomography), remote sensing • Applied mathematics: optimization, computational linear algebra, scientific computing, statistical modeling (regression, clustering, model fitting, robust statistics), algebraic geometry/minimal solvers
