ABOUT MAUREEN HUSKEY
As a Special Education Teacher Specialist with a Clear Credential at the Frostig School, I adapt and deliver high school curriculum in ELA, Physics, Chemistry, and Algebra for students with a range of learning challenges. I handle behavior support, data collection, assessments, IEP writing and meetings, reports, and ongoing communication with administration, staff, counselors, and parents/guardians. I am responsible for the overall function and ecology of the classrooms, and provide direction and supervision to Teacher Aides.In addition to working in Special Education, I am a theatre director and instructor. Starting in fall 2025, I will be teaching acting to young adults on the spectrum for Chance Theater. My past work as a creator/director has been produced in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Vienna, Austria, Vancouver, Canada and Los Angeles. I have received a Robby Award, Princess Grace Award, Bessie Award, Rotary International Fellowship, and work I have directed has received Ovation and NAACP nominations. I received a MFA in Directing from the California Institute of the Arts, a Drama Diploma with Merit from the University of Kent at Canterbury England, and a BFA with honors in Media Communications and Theater from Western State Colorado University.
