About Maureen Walton
I am a marine geophysicist and principal investigator at the Naval Research Laboratory at the Stennis Space Center in southern Mississippi. I am interested in understanding tectonic systems at continental margins, particularly strike-slip systems, and how to better understand and forecast coastal geohazards, especially those related to earthquakes and slope stability (earthquakes, tsunamis, submarine landslides). Current research areas are offshore of the US west coast, including the Queen Charlotte fault in southeastern Alaska, the Cascadia subduction zone, and the California continental borderland.
