ABOUT MAUREEN KIRSCHMANN

As the Director of Attendance and Community Engagement for Rockford Public Schools District #205, I lead districtwide efforts to strengthen attendance and family engagement by building human-centered systems and authentic partnerships between schools, families, and community organizations.Since joining RPS 205 in 2018, I have advanced through multiple roles, helping design structures that move beyond compliance and focus on belonging, access, and shared responsibility. My work centers on reducing barriers to learning through thoughtful, scalable practices that support students, families, and school leaders alike. At the core of my approach is trust—designing systems that work for people, listening deeply, and collaborating across disciplines to create conditions where students feel supported academically, socially, and emotionally.
