ABOUT MAUREEN CAHILL

CEO/Administrator, Spurgeon Manor, Inc- Nonprofit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC)Maureen Cahill has been a long-term care administrator for nearly 25 of the 35 years that she has worked in health care. Since 2008 she has been the CEO and Administrator of Spurgeon Manor. In that capacity, Maureen seeks to ensure there is excellent senior care in every area of operations and that all residents, staff, and other stakeholders in this Christian community are treated with dignity and respect. During her tenure, Maureen’s strategic planning initiatives yielded two highly successful capital campaigns that transformed Spurgeon Manor from an aging community reliant on private pay and minimal government reimbursement; to a full-fledged CCRC supported by an array of fiscal sources. In addition to her reputation as a highly regarded manager and licensed Nursing Home Administrator, Maureen’s, instrumental role in the startup of Iowa Health Care Quality Partners, initiating Spurgeon Manor’ participation in the Peace Church Risk Retention Group, certification as a CPASRM professional by ECRI and participating as a member of the American Health Care Association’s Independent Owners’ Council, demonstrate her expertise in aging services and risk management. Maureen led her team through the rigorous AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program process resulting in Spurgeon Manner’s designation as a Silver Achievement in Quality Award recipient in 2014 and again in 2021. They also achieved rare “Deficiency Free” state surveys in 2014 and 2021 under her leadership. Maureen has been an officer and member of the Board at the Iowa Health Care Association. She has her MJ in Health Law, Risk Management and Compliance from Drake University; MBA from the University of Dubuque; Certification in Nursing Home Administration from Des Moines Area Community College; and BS in Therapeutic Recreation.
