About Maura Pizzo
With over a decade of experience advancing ethics, accountability and protection within the UN system, I specialize in creating safer, more transparent organizational cultures. My work spans ethics advisory, misconduct response, PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse), and the development of global training and policy frameworks.I currently serve as Acting Ethics Manager at UNICEF (at P4 level), leading the organization’s ethics outreach and advisory streams. Previously, I held roles at OCHA, UNESCO and UN Peacekeeping, working across HQ and field missions in Africa and Latin America. I have advised on whistleblower protection, anti-harassment policy, and survivor-centered SEA response, while delivering in-person ethics and PSEA training in more than a dozen countries.I’m passionate about strengthening institutional integrity, through clear guidance, inclusive engagement, and proactive risk mitigation. Whether advising senior leadership or supporting staff in the field, I aim to build trust and uphold the highest standards of conduct in international service.I have full professional proficiency in English, French, Portuguese, and Italian.
