About Matvei Shevchenko
I am a senior at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, double-majoring in International Relations and Economics with a minor in Business and a Certificate in Global Security. My research examines hybrid warfare, sanctions, deterrence theory, military doctrines, and military-industrial complexes, with emphasis on NATO and transatlantic security. I draw on open-source intelligence, Russian and Ukrainian-language sources, doctrinal texts, and quantitative analysis in R to connect political and economic dynamics with defense strategy. I plan to pursue a career in national security, contributing to policy analysis at the intersection of defense, economics, and international institutions.
