IX Liverpool is a neutral, not-for-profit Internet Exchange Point based in Liverpool, UK which facilitates traffic interchange (\"peering\") between its members, ultimately making the internet connections of users in the Greater Merseyside Region faster, more reliable, and cheaper. IX Liverpool is part of Liverpool’s 21st Century vision as a port once again, but instead of shipping and moving physical goods, we are selling our skills, experience, services and goods over the Internet – that’s why we want to make Liverpool the UK’s best connected city outside London.I co-founded this project with Paul Freeman-Powell and Simon Holgate. IX Liverpool is a community organisation run by volunteers.set up as a mutual company limited by guarantee.Achievements so far include: Setting up company and board of directors, with accountable and transparent structure Negotiated with RIPE for allocations of address space reserved only for IXP\'s Planning and designing of network for city fibre for Points of Presence around the city Created marketing campaigns to spread awareness, encourage support and educate others on the technological and economic benefits of an Internet Exchange point in Liverpool.
