About Matt Weyer

I\'m humbled to represent Council District 2 on the Honolulu City Council, representing Waikele, Kunia, Wahiawā, Whitmore Village, North Shore, and Kuhuku to Kahalu\'u.I am a graduate of both Mid-Pacific and UH Mānoa. After graduating from law school, with certificates in environmental and Native Hawaiian law, I spent some time as a domestic violence prosecutor handling felony intimate partner violence and child abuse cases. I then went into private civil practice, working in business litigation. After seeing the increasing challenges faced by local families and local government, I returned to public service, most recently working as planner with the City\'s Department of Community Services to increase O\'ahu\'s affordable housing inventory and support services for households experiencing homelessness. Having worked in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors, I know that there are so many opportunities for cross-sector collaboration to help meet our families\' needs and respond to the many challenges ahead.
