About Matt Vegter

Matt Vegter serves as the Director of Small Business Banking at SouthState Bank. A banker for 15 years, he’s always had a passion for working with small businesses. His inspiration to serve small businesses comes from watching his father start and grow a mobile home and modular transportation company in central Florida for over 40 years. In 2017, Matt helped the bank develop a small business loan program, Business Lending Express, which streamlined and simplified the underwriting process for small business loans. This program created efficiencies for both the bank and small business clients by decreasing loan origination costs by 70% and reduced the time to decision by 75%. Now leading the Small Business effort for the bank, Matt aims to grow small business clients throughout SouthState’s footprint. SouthState is committed to providing banking and loan solutions that align with customers’ needs, along with the financial advice and resources to help them be successful.Matt holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Southeastern University, a master’s degree in Business Administration from Stetson University, is a graduate of the Florida School of Banking and is currently enrolled at the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Philadelphia.
