About Matt Prescott

As Director of Information Security at Abilene Christian University (ACU), I leverage my eight certifications and nine years of full-time IT and security experience to protect the university\'s network and systems from cyber threats. I am responsible for and oversee incident response, vulnerability management, firewall management, security self-assessment, threat hunting, security projects, endpoint and server protection, and security awareness training.Prior to joining ACU, I worked for an MSP as a Field Support Specialist in Networking and Security, where I installed and configured SonicWall and Meraki firewalls, switches, routers, and WAPs, configured VLANs and QoS for VOIP, and performed monthly vulnerability assessments for a large multibranch enterprise. I also had a one-year assignment as Interim CIO for the local city, where I strategized, planned, and organized the future of the IT department, managed 16 employees and several large projects, such as city-wide VOIP implementation, ISP bandwidth upgrade, and new VMWare system.I have a BBS in Church Ministry from Hardin-Simmons University and a Certificate in Computer and Information Sciences and Support Services from Vernon College. I am passionate about cybersecurity and network engineering, and I am always eager to learn new skills and technologies. My goal is to contribute to the security and efficiency of the organizations I work for, and to collaborate with other IT professionals to solve complex problems.
