About Matthew Ludwig

Reading, Writing, and the Outdoors; my three favorite things. I’m driven to write by my need to know WHY? That question has no straight answer, but I’m at my best when exploring those complexities in the woods, on the water, or with an open book. And nothing brings me more satisfaction than choosing the perfect words to craft what I’ve learned into a compelling story. I realize I haven’t held an official “writing” job, but my previous experiences gave me plenty of opportunities to exercise my writing skills. As a history major, I learned to love research, scouring sources for relevant information, which I then wove into a coherent narrative. In the Army, I wrote innumerable operations orders, situation reports, and briefings, presenting them to soldiers of all levels, from Privates to Generals. Finally, at my last company, I wrote content for websites, brochures, newsletters, and proposals for military and government customers. I left the Army because I wanted to write. In pursuit of that goal, I studied fiction in Miami University’s creative writing program and graduated with a MFA in 2020. Now, after O’Gara’s sudden closure, I aim to apply my degree and my passion to a new career path.
