I feel like I have the greatest job in the world. I get to be deeply involved in people\'s lives and invite people deeply into mine. I am part of a plurality of leaders at Discovery Church that consists of Elder/Pastors, staff Ministry Leaders. We work in tandem to carry out the mission that is part of the adventure in a relationship with Jesus; to know God and make Him known wherever we go. I oversee and work closely with our staff and the many volunteer leaders in our community of faith. We walk out the messiness of life together and strive to do it in a way that honors God and one another. I think my role is often to speak less and listen more. As a pastor, it would seem that \"preaching\" would be the main part of the job but I see it another way. I wrestle through practicing what any follower of Jesus wants to emulate - to love God and be focused on relationship with Him. The other part is equally as challenging - to love others the way He loves us. I am in some ways the chief mistake maker. The things I do, do not always affirm the words I speak. However, this only proves that I, like everyone else, am not perfect. I feel like my job is to live this out loud, to open up when I fail, to model what has been modeled for me by mothers and fathers in the faith and to invite others to join in this adventure of living an intentional life submitted to the only one who ever did it perfectly, Jesus.
