ABOUT MATTIE BASE

In the work environment, I find myself valuing hard work, accountability, respect, and teamwork. These are key factors to what I see as an efficient workplace. With my past experience as a leader and a hardworking problem solver, I will always be putting my hardest work forward and work well with any team I am assigned with. I am a second-year student in the Bachelor of Commerce program at Dalhousie University. I have intentions of majoring in accounting in hopes of one day being a chartered professional accountant. Since high school, I have found myself thriving and enjoying many problem-solving courses such as accounting, calculus and vectors, and advanced functions. I continue this love and passion in my first-year accounting courses at Dalhousie. I am hoping to secure my first of three co-op work terms in the accounting industry. This is where I will be able to grow my knowledge in this industry and see how it works firsthand. I expose myself through extracurriculars such as the women’s varsity hockey team. I am also looking to join the accounting society first semester of my second year. This will also help me understand the accounting industry and learn from those already in it. I have grown up in a competitive environment with sports and it has taught me to push myself to be the best person I can be. Along with my passion for accounting and hard work, I am excited for where I can go in the accounting industry and hope to find an opportunity within it.
