About Matthieu Trudeau
As a Canadian kid playing hockey every day of the week, I developed an early passion for understanding how movement technique and gear influence performance and injury. I have always thought about the human body as a complex machine. That concept has led me to a career devoted to researching the intricacies of human movement, and applying that knowledge to product design. My expertise in biomechanics and ergonomics is built on a solid foundation of engineering principles and research methods gained during my training at Harvard University and the University of Calgary’s HPL. More than a decade of experience working in industry has taught me the principles of innovation and of leading effective teams.I thrive on projects where I can use my creative and analytical skills to develop and lead innovative research agendas. One of my most exciting projects was leading the Run Signature scientific program at Brooks. This new paradigm involved over a dozen projects, some of which utilized unconventional research methods (e.g, eye tracking to measure runner confidence, modifying shoes in a machine shop, etc.). At its core, Run Signature revolutionized the way shoes are designed, tested, and sold by demystifying how footwear affects the foot, ankle, and knee during running at an individual level.Beyond my technical skills, I have a proven track record of effectively communicating scientific concepts to various audiences, including presentations to corporate leadership, international conferences, podcasts, and publishing articles in scientific journals and popular magazines. In every role, I’m excited about leveraging my network to forge lasting business partnerships and committed to building a positive culture through empathy, curiosity, and fostering an inclusive environment.
