ABOUT MATTHIAS GRUND
Matthias Grund (b. 1995) is a Cologne-based artist and researcher who explores the structural and aesthetic aspects of synthetic imagery. Situated between contemporary image-making and media theory, his work treats generative systems not as simulations of legacy media, but as a distinct ontological category. Through imaging, video, and installation, Grund examines the ‘surface’ of synthetic output as a site of situated material knowledge. His work has been exhibited at institutions including the MAKK, Kunstmuseum Karlsruhe, and the Deichtorhallen Hamburg.
