ABOUT MATTHIAS GERO FRIEDRICH

Matthias Friedrich is a cardiologist and clinical researcher at the McGill University Health Centre.He is also an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at the Departments of Radiology of the Université de Montréal and the Departments of Cardiac Sciences and Radiology of the University of Calgary and an Adjunct Professor at the Heidelberg University, Heidelberg, Germany.At the McGill University Health Centre, he is the Chief, Cardiovascular Imaging, and Scientific Director of the Courtois Cardiovascular Signature Program After earning his MD at the University of Erlangen, Germany, he completed his Internal Medicine and Cardiology training at the Humboldt University in Berlin.His primary research interest is Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the heart (Cardiovascular MR, or short: CMR). He is actively involved in national and international organizations, reviewer of multiple medical specialty journals, and member of several editorial boards. He authored more than 250 publications on CMR with more than citations.In 2005, he founded the Canadian Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CanSCMR).He is the Past President of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance.He was co-founder of a large company (Circle CVI) for post-processing and analysis of CMR images for diagnostic purposes (cvi42®, and of Area19 Medical a startup applying AI for advanced CMR image analyses.He is a supporter of Open Source and Open Science.Furthermore, he is working on mobile and other technologies that empower individuals for managing their health.
