ABOUT MATT WOOD

Matt Wood has been a biotech pioneer for 20+ years, developing cost-effective, clean, and healthy probiotic and biochemical products for consumers, industrials, and farmers. He is a forward-thinking, highly experienced executive and entrepreneur who has become a leader in bringing healthier, sustainable products to market at a global and industrial scale.Matt founded SCD Probiotics in 1998 to create products that don’t simply replace the toxic chemicals in our lives but help undo their damage as well—restoring health and balance to our soil, food, bodies, homes, and planet. He had been awakened to probiotics and the web of health they support during his time at the University of Missouri-Columbia and EARTH University-Costa Rica, while studying chemicals and their negative impact on soil, food, and human health. Under the tutelage of pioneers of the field, he learned that when you restore balance to the microbial world, you restore the health of the ecosystem they support. Matt knew then that as a scientist, he had a responsibility to bring the power of probiotics to the world. Over 20 years of research and development, the company has built and patented a biotechnology platform to do just that. Matt has also been the lead executive in building out a global network of licensed SCD Probiotics manufacturers and distributors, expanding the company’s reach to six continents.In 2004, Matt led the launch and funding of Probiotic Holdings to continue to develop and commercialize the company’s fermentation technologies for multiple industries. In 2012, he led the launch and funding of Probiotic Holdings company, Proviera Biotech, to develop and commercialize groundbreaking, sustainable biochemicals for the leather tannery industry.In 2011, Matt was awarded for his contributions to soil science and sustainable technology by Poland’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Marek Sawicki.
