   The University of Virginia School of Medicine is a graduate medical school, founded in 1819, by Thomas Jefferson, with 700 enrolled students (M.D, PhD); It is ranked 29th in the nation for research and 6th for primary care according to U.S. News & World Report.As an Associate Professor at UVA, I have served in various leadership roles, including director and co-founder of UVA’s Medical Design Program, where I presently teach a cohort of 1st-year medical students (up to 20 per year) on human-centered design thinking, research, and prototyping techniques.Key Achievements Forged strategic partnerships between major research organizations, which shaped multiple public health policies and programs. Designed and rolled out a design thinking program within 12 months, reaching full capacity every term for 9 consecutive years, which later became enacted by the Teaching Excellence Society (2020). Introduced market-based tools and incentives for city housing authorities and commercial real estate investors to target health and well-being impacts within their investment decisions. Consulted Chief Business Innovation Officer on strategies to assess how using user-centered design interviews (using AI) might improve the patient-caregiver experience at St. Jude’s Hospital.
