ABOUT MATTHEW SOSTROM
I am a Grand Canyon University graduate with a BS in Marketing and Advertising. I have created 2 successful small businesses. I started Kahau Kones (ka•how) in August 2018. My business sold shaved ice at almost every elementary school in the Scottsdale and Paradise Valley school districts. After each school event, Kahau Kones would donate 33% of sales to the school. Over has been donated to Scottsdale area schools with Kahau Kones. I managed a team to unofficially break the world record for the largest shaved ice. Our attempt was successful. The previous record was 3426 pounds and our shaved ice was 5097 pounds. Unfortunately, we did not officially break the official Guinness World Record due to a few technicalities after the event. Kahau Kones’ operations were paused in May 2020. I am the owner of Aloha Arizona Photography, which works with real estate agents, surveyors, and construction managers to create beautiful images and videos. As owner, I manage the operations, marketing, FAA and IRS compliance, and accounting. I won Collegiate DECA’s entrepreneurship event in 2021 by creating an expansion plan for this business. I have participated in DECA for 3 years in high school and 3 years at GCU.
