ABOUT MATTHEW PAYNE

After graduating from Queen\'s University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Certificate in Mining Technologies, I travelled to Australia where I worked on-site and in corporate with Redpath Mining. At Redpath\'s head office I critically supported management as an analyst, then as an on-site engineer at Glencore’s Lady Loretta Mine in a rotational style program. During my time working in Australia I also passed all three levels of the CFA exams on first attempt. My engineering degree and years of experience serve as a testament to my technical skillset, and passing the CFA exams demonstrate my financial acumen. I passed the third and final level of the CFA exams in August 2024, and am now completing the required work experience to receive the charter. I chose the CFA program because it requires greater commitment and discipline than other similar designations and afforded me the liberty of completing it alongside full time work. Looking to the future I will further develop my skillset in corporate finance and Engineering. My peers would describe me as an upbeat, hard-working person who believes there is never a problem too big to solve. I am continually looking to further my skillset in areas of interest including Mining, Engineering, Finance and History.
