As a Doctoral Research Assistant, I have led multiple research projects in the Development of Identity and Community Engagement (DICE) Lab. Directed by Dr. Sara K. Johnson, the DICE Lab investigates when, why, and how young people (adolescents and young adults) become engaged in contribution behaviors.Some of these projects include:The ACTION Study: a mixed methods investigation of interrelations between identity exploration, critical reflection (i.e, awareness and critique of social inequities), and civic engagement.The IDEAS Study: a mixed methods examination of how critical consciousness (i.e, individuals’ awareness and reflection on as well as motivation and action taken to redress societal inequities) of specific inequities manifest among young people. The STACiE Study: a qualitative study of the motivational, emotional, social, and contextual antecedents of high school students\' civic action with the purpose of developing a grounded theory of youth civic engagement.We have published multiple papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings from these projects, and we look forward to sharing more findings soon!
