ABOUT MATTHEW METCALF
I am a senior-year student pursuing academics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s School of Business. My passions are rooted in analytical problem-solving, strategy implications based on data collection, and immersing myself in diverse cultures and historical backgrounds. I found that pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance, Investment, and Banking, as well as a certificate in History, would be the ideal educational pathway for me given these interests. In my first two years of university, my enthusiasm for these topics has drawn me to a multitude of roles within organizations and groups as I further advance my career. During my freshman year at Indiana University, I joined the Kappa Eta Phi Global Business Fraternity to intermix my love for business with learning about cultural diversity. Additionally, I advanced my skills in analytical thinking and data analysis through classes such as Calculus, Basics to Accounting, and \"The Computer in Business,” a course dedicated to honing my proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access. Furthermore, my sophomore year at UW-Madison caused minimal deterrence in my interests as I took classes such as business analytics and marketing and secured admission into the Wisconsin School of Business’ study abroad program in Milan, Italy. During my time at UW-Madison, I plan to further grow my education in the business field and my other passions, as well as expand my social network through the events and organizations offered on campus. I am currently an active member of the Capital Management Club, where I learn investment-based terminology, strategies, and career pathways that help me strengthen my knowledge of problem-solving and data-based strategy implication. On top of this, I am a part of the Theta Chi fraternity, which hosts philanthropic events and gatherings to support non-profit organizations such as Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer, as well as assists me in expanding my social presence around campus. As I continue my educational career, I strive to continue to grow my knowledge of my passions through additional organizations and job internships. I plan to also expand my business-related skill sets, such as cash management, customer relations, and real-time data analytics, that I began to advance through previous annual summer jobs at TNT Fireworks and Heartland Hockey Camp. By continuing to put my best work forward through the application and adaptation of my passions, I hope to utilize these skills in my future career and internship opportunities in the financial world.
