About Matt Wehner
My name is Matt Wehner and I served 21 years in the USAF as an officer, pilot, and leader. My last position in the service was as the Squadron Commander (Senior Program Manager) for the USAF\'s C-130J (Medium Cargo Aircraft) Flying Training Unit. I then served for 8 years in the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) at Wright Patterson AFB, OH as an avionics engineer, aircraft systems subject matter expert and lead contract manage/team lead. Two of those years were in the USAF T-6 Texan System Program Office and six in the C-130J Super Hercules International Program Office. I returned to the cockpit in August 2023 as a First Officer (FO) for PSA (American Eagle) Airlines in the Bombardier CRJ 700/900 aircraft and upgraded to Captain after 1 year of flying the line as an FO.I have 30+ years experience in operations, senior leadership and management with a proven record leading teams of people and organizations in developing and aligning goals, strategy, priorities, and resources. I care about people and always strive to help develop personnel in order to to optimize operations. I also have an extensive background in flight operations, training, scheduling, logistics, safety/risk management, engineering, acquisitions, compliance, international relationships and partnership building, and continuous process improvement. Most importantly, I understand that people are an organization\'s most valuable asset, and I bring an elite \"servant leader\" approach to get the most out of the team. I pride myself on having ended my AF career as a squadron commander, a position for which less than 10% of Air Force officers are selected. My unit was twice selected as the #1 unit of its type in the Wing (Division) and as a result, our Wing was awarded the USAF Outstanding Unit Award. On two consecutive climate assessments, the unit has exceed AF job satisfaction averages in every category. I have succeeded by managing relationships with superiors & subordinates, establishing a vision and goals, and by being passionate about and committed to the task, the mission, and the most importantly…the people! Bottom line: I am a leader, and whether serving in a formal leadership role or not, I\'ll lead!
