About Matthew Obrien

Today, I love helping companies move along a digital path to the cloud, but I started on a very different path in my early years.Growing up in the Carolinas, the weather allowed my family and I to be very active in sports. Naturally, when I took some time off from college to try discovering my career path, I gravitated towards a job at Dick’s Sporting Goods. I quickly learned a lot about myself including a passion for customer service, hard work, and driving a team to improved results.I soon advanced from an entry-level sales position to store leadership and began traveling to stores across the state to help build teams and perfect operational processes. My overall focus for this passion was rooted in hiring new talent and empowering teams through motivation and training to be the best employees they can be. I also found a nerdy interest in looking at operational processes and thinking outside the box to determine how as a business we could improve those processes.In 2013, I was honored to be recruited by Gap, Inc. There I immersed myself in a new focus and product in the retail industry, fashion. While the focus was different, my drive for building teams and operational processes stayed the same and I led the team operationally from product delivery, placement, and the overall look of the store as the Brand Manager.Then in late 2015, a friend approached me and suggested pivoting my career from retail management, to an exciting career in technology sales. I can honestly say that have not looked back since. Today, I spend my days speaking with business owners, executives, and directors discussing automating workflows and suggesting ways that they can improve their businesses with the cloud.I now get to speak to interesting new people and businesses daily in a fast-paced work environment while still being laid back and conversational enough to find out their thoughts on how the Carolina Panthers or UNC Tar Heels Basketball team will do this year!
