ABOUT MATTHEW CHIN

I\'m Matthew, a current Financial Services Audit Assistant Manager at Deloitte with a focus on auditing investment firms, asset managers, private banks, and private equity firms.I have accrued a wide array of work experience in Corporate Finance, Investment Research, Corporate and Commercial Law, and Business Development. From my finance experience, I did a 2 months internship at a boutique research house – AlphaStone Equities – where I conducted financial analysis on Microsoft, Alphabet, and BMW. I valued companies using DCF, LBO, and public comparables. Moreover, I successfully pitched Microsoft to the lead equity research analyst with a 13.6% upside.From my legal work experience, I have completed a 4 weeks vacation scheme at one of the largest commercial law firms in Malaysia and have shadowed a Managing Partner of a reputable law firm in my hometown. Additionally, I have also assisted my lecturer in coordinating one of her modules and preparing an exhibition which was a complete success. In terms of non-legal work experience, I have served as a personal assistant to the Director of a company and most notably played an influential role in brokering a partnership deal between the two companies. Moreover, I have served as a Homestay manager and a waiter which showcases my ability to thrive in a client-focus industry such as finance. I have always enjoyed the notion of interacting with and helping others - at University, I volunteered to be a mentor to first-years and a Senior Student Representative to the whole cohort. I have also held several committee positions with the Malaysian Society and Photography Society, most notably being the President of the Photography Society. This passion for helping others out has led to me always fighting to secure the best possible opportunities for others, as such I have formed a partnership with Adobe and have been collaborating with them to provide activities for our members during Covid-19.
