ABOUT MATTHEW C.

I thrive on making things better for people through my work, and have been privileged to enjoy this in a number of settings so far in my career.I presently work in Inclusive Design for the RNIB; and am proud to work in this area that has so much potential to improve the standards by which our country, places, and means of travelling between them, can be more inclusive by design; accessible, easier and more enjoyable to use, for all. Inclusive design and environments nurture inclusive cultures and practices. Always enjoy having conversations with people and considering how their work and organisations can enable greater accessibility and inclusion. A special area of interest – building on my three and a half years experience of claims management and motor liability investigation, with Zurich Insurance – is on the built environment in our public realm, streetscapes, and highways. Many spaces are being redesigned to support active travel and prioritise public transport. But in this change, too often, new barriers and challenges are being created that negatively affect blind and partially sighted people, and others with special needs. It is crucial that persons and professionals with lived experience are involved in consultations, design and build, continuous improvement, and standards design. Technology enthusiast. Social person.Live with IBD. Partially sighted, fully motivated!
